Description
Dostkari – Harmony Through Handicrafts is a deeply meaningful documentation of the 2014 Craft & Skill Exchange Workshop held at Dilli Haat, INA, New Delhi, organized by Dastkari Haat Samiti. This publication captures a rare and historic collaboration between 7 artisans from Pakistan and 10 from India, who came together across decades of political distance to co-create new handcrafted designs and forge bonds of friendship.
With insightful contributions from Jaya Jaitly (President, Dastkari Haat Samiti) and Khalid Javaid, the book presents an inspiring narrative of how traditional craft can act as a medium of peace, cultural dialogue, and shared creativity. The artisans jointly developed Ajrak prints, embroidery, block printing, and woodwork, reflecting the unified heritage and craftsmanship that predates the division of the two nations in 1947.
