Description
Contemporary artist Arpana Caur is well known for her Nanak Paintings which link the earthly with the divine and brings both vibrancy and depth to the simplest of images. Her roots in the myths and legends, spiritual tracts and daily lives of the people of Punjab brings a special luminosity to the simple carpenter working in the shadow of the Golden Temple at Amritsar and the brilliant Phulkari embroideries of its women. Executed in water colour and on canvas, they have been created specially to honour the simple crafts man and woman who keep the dignity of handwork and Indian cultural traditions alive.
