The rich Thanjavur style of painting which adorns itself with gilded archways and ornaments in relief uses the typical haldi-kum kum colours of its textiles. The women wear saris in local patterns and weaves as a temple procession manifests the variety of crafts encouraged by temple traditions. The young artist, N.
